Your website on the web and how visitors can find it
You created a website and now want to open it to your customers. You need to ask yourself a question how do I do that? How do I spread the word about my website and get more people to visiting it? When people start to visit your website, they will generate more traffic and naturally link to your pages, your website position in the search engines will start to improve, pushing it further and further to the first page where everyone wants to be.
There are many ways to attract how users reach your website:

Search queries - people search for certain keywords in search engines queries (Google, Yahoo and others). The queries produce page which list websites found with these keyword which include information they searched for.

Links to your website page – links from other websites direct visitors to your website pages. These are called outside links.

Keywords – you optimise your website pages for keywords you think will attract visitors, they need to be specific and can be more than one word long (the longer keywords are called long tail keywords).

Internal links- let visitors know what other information your website contain on other pages and send visitors directly to them.

PPC advertising – Pay Per Click advertising is the quickest way to get visitors to your website. You need to sign up with Google AdWords or other program from Yahoo or MSN, and set up your advertising campaign .

Social Media – Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg, Stumbleupon and other social sites can help you to spread the word and enter valuable links to your website. You need to set up an account and build up your profile to attract visitors.

Articles submissions and Directories - write interesting articles which have new content and submit them to free or paid directories. Your articles contain links to your website and people reading them can follow the link to your website to find more information.
- Forums – search for general forums or specific forums for your topic , be active and enter comments with links back to your website. Not all forums will allow you to enter a link to your website in your comment as some regard it as spamming, but some will do.
- Link farms – not recommended to use as these websites are well known to the search engines and are classified as spam or even banned by the search engines. Any links from link farms may do you more harm than good, so stay away from them.
- Link exchange – if you find a group of trustworthy internet marketers like yourself and wish to exchange links this might be a good joint venture, you need to however verify their websites if they are going to be good “friends” for your website before you link to them.
- Blog – set up a blog and update its content regularly, invite visitors’ comments. A blog can be a traffic generator for your website.
The more links to your website on the web, the more likely it is that Google crawlers will visit. Once Google starts crawling your website more often, you'll notice improvement in search engine results which will lead to more visitors traffic.
